Kyle Chalmers announced as new VACSWIM ambassador

22 November 2019

With summer just a fortnight away VACSWIM officially launch the 2019/2020 campaign, prompting families to register their children for South Australia's most significant aquatic safety program designed to save lives.

"As an Aussie kid it's important to be confident around water," said Kyle Chalmers.

"I'm so happy to be named a VACSWIM Ambassador… if being a part of this program can help prevent drownings and encourage kids to get out, safely and have fun in the water, then that's a wonderful thing."

12,000 primary school aged children are expected to enrol at over 120 beach and pool locations across South Australia with the support of Surf Life Saving SA, Royal Life Saving SA, YMCA and a number of independent providers.

VACSWIM is described as the best value for money aquatic safety holiday program with individual enrolment starting at $30 per participant and is proudly supported by the Government of South Australia through the Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS).

VACSWIM is a week-long aquatic safety program (not a learn to swim program) that aims to teach children vital water safety and survival techniques that could save lives this summer including first aid, entering and exiting the water correctly, surf and sun safety and what a child can do if they find themselves in trouble.

The majority of 2020 programs take place from Thursday, 2 to Friday 10 January 2020, and some occurring before Christmas when school year ends from 16th December.

Please check the VACSWIM website for details - December program online enrolments open now and close 5pm Monday 2 December and January programs online enrolments open now and close on Monday, 16 December. VACSWIM locations also offer onsite enrolments during the week the program is running.
