What level should my child be doing?
The first thing to do is decide whether you'll be doing VACSWIM
on a beach or in a pool. Then check out the content of the Surf and
Survive program (beaches) or Swim and Survive or YMCA's
programs. Each program are levelled or staged and if you did 3
last year you'll be doing 4 this year.
My child did it on a beach last year, can they do it in
a pool this year?
Absolutely! The levels/stages are pretty consistent so if
you did Stage 4 on the beach last year you'd probably be doing
Level 5 in the pool this year.
I've forgotten what level my child did last
year.
Unfortunately here at the VACSWIM office we do not hold these
records. These are maintained by the program providers so you
will have to contact them. If you did it last year in a
swimming pool its likely that Royal Life Saving has them (8210
4500) or if it was in a YMCA pool call them on 8406 2900. If
it was on a beach then contact Surf Life Saving on 8354 6996.
Is VACSWIM a learn to swim program?
No. Its a water safety program. Check out the
details of the programs (see above)
I'm going away in January so can I do a VACSWIM program
in December?
We've had quite a few of these. Unfortunately the answer
is usually no - although we'll be reporting back to head office on
this. Actually, we've added a page on the web site called December
Programs.
What time will my level take place?
In many locations you can chose what time your child does their
program. In other locations the provider will be in touch to
confirm the time as they consider the number of bookings for each
level.
