Eyre Peninsula

"Australia's seafood frontier." That's how the
exploreeyrepeninsula web site describes the most westerly region of
South Australia. With so many people working on and around
the water you can understand why VACSWIM is so popular with 25
beach or pool locations.
Eleven of the programs take place on a beach and are delivered
by the Surf Life Saving South Australia and the names of the
beaches, such as Coffin Bay and Lucky Bay, reflect the sometimes
unforgiving nature of this wild coastline.
The Surf and Survive program delivered by Surf Life Saving is
all about providing children with appropriate beach and sea safety
skills. The aim is for parents to enjoy peace of mind while their
children enjoy the water.
The beach based programs are popular with both locals and
holiday makers with many participants living in Adelaide and
enjoying VACSWIM as part of their holiday.
On the other hand, most of the pool based programs involve local
residents. Pool programs take place in all population centres
from Port Lincoln in the south through Cummins and Lock in the
middle, Whyalla and Port Augusta in the east and Ceduna and Streaky
Bay in the west. For the latter there are two location -
Streaky Bay Jetty Pool and Streaky Bay Area School - so residents
and holiday makers at Streaky Bay are loving VACSWIM.
So, if you live local or will be visiting on holiday make sure
you don't miss out on booking a place in one of the Eyre Peninsula
- they're filling up fast!
