Welcome - Water Safety and Survival

SA Water VACSWIM SA is a South Australian Government supported initiative which provides primary school aged children with opportunities to develop a range of skills and positive experiences in the areas of water safety, confidence and competence in the water, personal survival activities and basic aquatic emergency procedures.

Funded by the Government of South Australia and sponsored by SA Water, the majority of 2018 programs take place from Tuesday, 2 to Wednesday, 10 January 2018.  All programs taking place on beaches are managed and delivered by the Surf Life Saving Association. The programs taking place in pools are managed and delivered by the Royal Life Saving Society or the YMCA and, in some cases, a private operator.  All programs meet the National Water Safety Education Competency Framework and are conducted by qualified instructors.

 To match your child's age with an appropriate level use the table below. However, guardians should check the competencies performed in each level to ensure their child will be in the correct level.  If you are not sure, please contact the program provider directly.

* Royal Life Saving SA and Surf Life Saving SA sites will still operate higher awards, however these do not attract funding through the VACSWIM funding model. In order to enrol for higher awards, please contact Royal Life Saving SA (pools) or Surf Life Saving SA (beaches) directly.
